Seed business sprouts from family farm roots

At Steyer Seeds we understand agriculture from the ground up. We've been on the family farm near Tiffin, in northern Ohio since the 1950's.

When Arthur Steyer and his sons Tony and Bernie formed this company in 1985, they brought decades of practical experience to the new business. With their farming experience and Bernie's involvement with the seed industry for nearly twenty years, the Steyer family began the seed business as a contract seed corn producer.

After a couple of years of producing seed, Tony and Bernie decided to expand the business by selling seed locally and through a few farmer dealers. That has lead to our existing sales force which spans nearly every major grain growing state in America.

Providing tested, proven products
Using an elaborate network of testing, Steyer Seeds evaluates thousands of hybrids and varieties each year to assure that our seed genetics are suited to your growing conditions. That, as well as pulling genetics from all of the major breeding companies in North America and having our own breeding program help our customers maximize their profit.
